Phoenix CIS Quarterly Bulletin – March 2025

It’s been a fantastic start to year for the Phoenix CIS team, as we build on the successes of the past 12 months. We received outstanding feedback in our recent client survey, and we’ve also won new business mandates from both DC and DB schemes who have selected us as their platform provider.

2025 promises to be an exciting year for the business - read on to find out what we’ve been up to so far…

Client survey

In January we shared the results of our recent client survey, which revealed excellent ratings across the board! We were particularly pleased with the high scores we received in the following areas:

  • Approach to innovation
  • Accuracy and timeliness of our reporting
  • Commitment to deliver on our promises
  • Relationship management experience
  • Professionalism of our people

As a business, we actively engage with our clients and their consultants to understand how we can improve our platform proposition and the services we provide – so please continue to let us know how we’re doing and how we can evolve to meet your ongoing needs.

Industry events

We continue to engage with our market to ensure we understand the challenges and opportunities facing trustees today – and to drive the discussion around future innovation that could make a real difference to member outcomes.

Earlier this month, Head of CIS Jess Williams attended JP Morgan’s Women in Private Markets roundtable to hear about navigating the dynamic world of alternative investments – particularly against the backdrop of current global market volatility.

Jess also attended the annual PLSA Investment Conference in Edinburgh with Strategic Relations and Business Development Manager Kieron Snow. Some key themes highlighted this year include:

  • Global affairs and inflation risks – and what this means for pension investments
  • How and whether pension funds should be investing in the UK economy
  • Responsible use of DB surplus and effective run-on strategies
  • Private markets in DC – a slow but steady shift, supported by platforms like ours
  • Whether consolidation to drive size and scale is always in the best interest of members.

The conference is always a great opportunity for the industry to come together, and this year’s event was no exception. Looking forward to the next one!

New fund launches

This quarter we’ve launched two new funds from Invesco, providing opportunities for DC investors to benefit from allocations to global real estate that can support a more diversified portfolio and increase exposure to private market assets.

Invesco Global Direct Property Fund: Invesco’s latest real estate fund offering has been designed specifically for DC schemes to gain access to global, direct real estate. The fund structure seeks to deliver daily liquidity, while avoiding the fund suspension challenges associated with UK property funds. Find out more.

Invesco Global Real Estate Fund: Invesco’s Global Real Estate Fund seeks total return through growth of capital and current income by investing primarily in real estate securities throughout the world. Find out more.

You can access our latest fund list here.

Supporting our communities

Here at Phoenix, all colleagues benefit from paid volunteering days so that we can share our time, knowledge and skills with our local communities.

In March, London-based colleagues Buyi and Vesna took part in a mentoring session for Year 10 students at Haberdasher’s Borough Academy in Southwark, where they talked about their job roles and career journeys in client relationship management and marketing. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to find out about future career options and meet people outside their usual sphere of influence.

The session was a great success – the students were engaged and asked lots of questions about our company and the opportunities in our industry. A huge thanks to Local Village Network for organizing – you can find out more about the fantastic work they do here.

Looking ahead

The next few months will see us onboarding new clients and implementing new solutions for those we already work with, focusing in particular on providing decumulation options for members reaching retirement. We’re also planning a number of events for Q2 and Q3 and will share further details in due course.

In the meantime, don’t forget to follow us on LinkedIn for all our latest news and updates!
